    Jeff,

The general export tab does not seem to allow me to export any UDF or comments to CSV, please help?  I have tried to run "reports" to get this info, save to TXT and convert to CSV...which works OK for small amounts of data, but I have 110,000 records and the system crashes each time I try to do it.  Surely it is my PC, but still need that data.

    Thoughts please?

    Roger

    HI Roger,

Use the View/Edit feature to export any fields you want. Setup the view to contain the fields (UDFs etc) that you want to export. Right click on the Grid and choose Help from the popup menu to get quick help on this.

Once you have the layout/fields the way you want them, then select the rows you want to export to CSV, and click the EXPORT button in the window toolbar.

This will export all the visible fields in the grid for the selected records to CSV format.

But I don't think you can do all 110k sightings at once here either. You may have to break it into years.

Let me know if I can assist further,

    Jeff

Mate this gives me the same problem I had with the report to txt. It only lets me choose about 1200 records at a time and I have 108700 records I want to dump. Any other thoughts? Roger

I would try creating the CSV using Reporting - Sightings.  You can set up selection by UDF and what fields you want to export. I doubt you can get all of the fields in a single file, but you should be able to get all of the records. Save to file as Text.  Use Excel to open the text file and save it as a CSV.

I just tried on a sample part of my database (I have 1.1 million records) and I managed to generate a CSV file with 67,101 records.

As an aside, Jeff, I got two errors while playing around with these massive numbers of records.  One error was RTE 380 (Invalid property value) and the other was Overflow(6).  I didn't try to reproduce them because the Report function runs for a very long time.

    Hi Roger,

What do you need this data for? That might help me give you the best solution.

BTW - v4.0 does export your sightings with comments, UDFs, and Trips etc.

Bert - thanks for the info on the problems. I will try to reproduce.

    Jeff
