    Hello Jeff,

I downloaded BD ABA -2016, BD AOU-2016 and BD Clements-2016.

Here is the list of anomalies and my recommended fixes. If anyone has a better idea have at it. All recommendations were derived from official checklists.

    1. Checklist Editor Ambiguous Window for Gray Nightjar

Birds ABA-2016 Gray Nightjar (Caprimulgus indicus)

Birds AOU-2016 Gray Nightjar (Caprimulgus indicus)

Birds Clements-2016 Jungle Nightjar (Caprimulgus indicus)

Birds Clements-2016 Gray Nightjar (Caprimulgus jotaka)

Recommendation: In BD ABA and BD AOU only, add ALASKA to locations where Gray Nightjar (Caprimulgus indicus) is sited. For BD Clements do nothing. It will keep the Gray Nightjar in the BD Clements Alaska checklist but with a different latin name: Gray Nightjar (Caprimulgus jokata). The reason is that ABA and AOU made the English name change from Jungle Nightjar to Gray Nightjar but did not acknowledge the split and kept the same latin name.

    2. Checklist Editor Ambiguous Window for Great-winged Petrel

Recommendation: In BD ABA, BD AOU, BD Clements, add CALIFORNIA to Locations for the Great-winged Petrel.

it was in the 2015 checklists. Don't know why it was omitted in 2016. Also don't know why you have an ambiguous window for this item.

    3. Budgerigar

Recommendation: Remove BUDGERIGAR from the BD ABA Taxonomy List and remove FLORIDA from the Locations List for the Budgerigar. Specie extirpated in Florida where it was formerly accepted to the checklist. It is still listed in the official Florida checklist with the designation of disestablished exotic and reduces the Florida bird list total (i.e., not counted in the total Florida bird count). (Ref: Official Florida Checklist page)

Leave it on BD AOU and BD Clements Taxonomy lists because it is still valid in other locations.

    4. Checklist Editor Ambiguous Window for Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus)

Recommendation: In BD ABA and BD AOU only, add ALASKA and CALIFORNIA to locations where Stonechat is sited.

    5. Plumbeous Pigeon

Recommendation: Add PANAMA to Locations List for Plumbeous Pigeon

    6. Azure Gallinule

Recommendation: Add NEW YORK to Locations List for Azure Gallinule

ABA delisted it. My proposal to the AOU to delist did not pass so it should still appear in the BD AOU checklist. The BD AOU Taxonomy list is OK. No change required there. Only the location list is affected.

    7. Checklist Editor Ambiguous Window for Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago)

Recommendation: In BD ABA, BD AOU, and BD Clements add CALIFORNIA to Locations for the Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago)

    8. Clapper Rail

Recommendation: Remove the following locations from Locations List for the Clapper Rail

    ARIZONA

    CALIFORNIA

When the Clapper Rail was split, California and Arizona BRCs replaced the Clapper Rail with Ridgway's Rail

    9. Miscellaneous Location Changes

Recommendations: Remove CALIFORNIA from the locations of the following species

Taiga Bean-goose (Never accepted by the CBRC)

Mute Swan (Not considered established by the CBRC)

Egyptian Goose (Not considered established by the CBRC)

Black Guillimot (Never been in California)

Monk Parakeet (Not considered established by the CBRC)

Nanday Parakeet (Not considered established by the CBRC)

White-winged Parakeet (Neither it nor the split off Yellow-chevroned Parakeet are considered established by the CBRC)

White-collared Seedeater (Not considered established by the CBRC)

They are not on the official California Bird Checklist

    10. Miscellaneous Location Changes

Recommendations: Remove CALIFORNIA from the location of the following species

Purple Sandpiper (Submitted for review to the CBRC: No decisions yet)

Buff-breasted Flycatcher (Very limited sighting. May be on the review list: No decisions yet)

Social Flycatcher (Submitted for review to the CBRC: No decisions yet)

Premature to have California in the Locations List for these.

    Regards, Al Borodayko

    Cypress, CA

    Thanks Al.

I have made all of the recommended changes. I will wait for a while before releasing an updated checklist file for these.

The reason these are they way they are is because AviBase has them this way.

    Thanks much,

    Jeff
