Hi Charles,

Thanks for the info.

Assuming that the error message is still, and always has been, exactly "Run time error '401' Can't show non-modal form when modal form is displayed", it seems to be indicating that there is another BD Window up at the same time, or I am trying to show a message after you click the "+" button. When I get back to the office on Thursday, I will check into this possibility. 

Hang in there until Thursday please.

No, Build 47 was released on March 8th, but a Build 48 was released after that. It contained a few specialty updates that doesn't affect most users.

  • Added new feature to Single Species Abundance Chart wherein the chart will show Maximum count for the day instead of Summing the counts of all sightings. v5.0.48
  • Fixed bug in Checklist Report where Location is not remembered when setting "For Which Location". v5.0.48

UPDATE: Spent a couple hours on Charles computer this morning. The strange thing is that it would NOT fail for me when connected to his computer over the internet. But, when I let him drive, while I watched, it failed almost every time. So, the difference would seem to be in his keyboard/mouse instead of mine. He was able to replace his mouse, with the problem still occurring. I just am not sure it is his keyboard as the last thing he used was his mouse before each error. It is directly after clicking the "+" button in the Sightings Documents window. 

I uploaded a debug version of BD, and the problem is happening while in a call to a system library routine. So the bug is NOT in BD but in a Windows System library. Probably COMDLG32.dll which contains the Open File system procedure.

Charles says he plans to upgrade his computer soon, so in light of that, he has agreed to muddle on with this issue until he gets a new computer. I agree. The new computer should definitely solve this problem, as I have no one else among thousands reporting this issue.

I am trying to pursue the email bounce-back problem with BT. Sorry to bother you but in order to escalate it further in their organisation they are asking for screen shots of the bounce-back message from both email addresses. They are also asking for your exact email address for the bounce back detail you sent previously. I don't think it can be just birdersdiary.com

P.S. FYI. I recorded about 30 photos today and only had one failure. The trick for now is to pause for 5 seconds or so before clicking on the plus sign.

p.s. So weird that it only happens when you do it, but it doesn't fail when I do it logged into your computer over the internet.
