    when trying to run BD, error message Run time error 91, object variable or with black variable not set, cannot find Microsoft Jet database engine, could not find database

    Running BD 4.0 or later, have not had previous problem, rebooted computer, Windows 7, no change

    Help?

    Hi Harry,

    Interesting. This message seems to indicate that it cannot find your BD database. Look in C:\Birder's Diary\data\ for a file named database.mdb. Do you see it?

    Have you done backups?

    I went to C:/BirdersDiary/data/ and found data folder empty, modified 1-28-2018

     

    I thought I was backing up regularly and recently in Birders Diary before closing

     

    I have been not so good about backup up on thumb drive, never sure if I did it right

    Looked on thumb drive and last one recorded was 7-12-16,  not so good

    Hi Harry,

    So big question is how did your /data folder end up being emptied/erased?

    You can go ahead and restore your latest backup by copying the latest backup file to the /data folder and renaming it to database.mdb.

    Then run Birder's Diary and you will be able to see your sightings up to that point.

    Let me know if I can assist further with anything.

    Jeff,

    I was ready to throw away my old computer and BD along with it. Many years of info would be long gone.

    My computer has been having some slowness and problems, ie Windows update not working, now resolved.

    Figured out how to take last backup (2016) from thumb drive and place in data file and rename, still get same error report.

    Also found backup for 4-2018 on desktop, could that work?
