    Jeff,

To Update the Florida Checklist to align with the FOS Checklist the following changes to BD's Checklist are needed:

    Add
    Tricolored Munia

    Delete
    Trumpeter Swan
    Eastern Spot-billed Duck
    European Turtle-Dove
    Rose-ringed Parakeet
    Rosy-faced Lovebird
    Pacific-slope Flycatcher
    Couch's Kingbird
    Brown-chested Martin
    Scaly-breasted Munia
    Chestnut Munia
    Yellow-fronted Canary
    Red-legged Honeycreeper

Note - the Chestnut Munia was previously treated as conspecific with Tricolored Munia

The FOSC also contains the following subspecies:
    Subspecies Scientific name
    “Common Teal" A.c. crecca
    ”Vega Gull” L. a. vegae
"Nominate Iceland Gull" L. g. glaucoides

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for this information.

The principle behind BD's checklist data for the past several years has been the following:

    • Set according to AviBase (website) checklist data instead of official records committees of individual states/provinces. This tends to be more inclusive of species and represents what could be seen in a given area; introduced, rare, domesticated, etc.
    • Give BD users the tools to easily update their own database with checklist data that meets their needs. As you know, BD has lots of tools for this purpose from the importable web page info to the Checklist Editor that gives you species-by-species control over what Things are associated with what locations.

So, it is expected that FL (as shipped in BD) and other states do not agree with the ABA or the individual state's official records committee.

Let me know if you have any thoughts/questions around this.

    Jeff

    Jeff,
That's fine, please just disregard my comments. I wasn't aware that BD was now using Avibase as first source and I can appreciate having one source for worldwide checklists.

I've edited my BD Checklist for Florida as that is my home state.

    Thanks again,
    Dave

No problem Dave. You gave me a chance to restate the status quo.

    Take care,

    Jeff
