My reports show for example Merlin (Taiga) when all I want it to show is Merlin.  I have been doing a lot of work putting my sightings into eBird and have to change the names before submitting them

    Hello Don,

    Thanks for posting.

BD names its subspecies a bit differently from eBird. Merlin (Taiga) indicates that you entered your sighting as a subspecies (F. c. columbarius).

You don't have to change the names before submitting. After uploading your eBird export file, you will be asked to correctly identify the name mismatches in eBird. This is a simple process and only takes a few moments. Are you aware of this process? Is it this process that you want to avoid?

    Let me know please,

    Jeff

Thank you very much Jeff.  It does answer the question.  Perhaps I am doing my reports wrong.  Some bird names also include location and dates as part of the name.  I am saving the BD reports as text and then opening the delimited text file in Excell.  I accept comma delimiited and tab without formatting columns.  Then I have to move a lot of items that are in the wrong columns.

    Hi Don,

I must admit that I am confused. There is a feature in BD specifically for exporting your sightings to eBird. Click here to watch a video tutorial.

Also, please watch the video on the Report Designer by clicking here.

This should clear things up. Let me know.

    Jeff
