Technical Support for Birder's Diary is provided via a support forum (internet discussion board).
A forum provides the following benefits over other methods of providing support:
A complete history of previous problems and their solutions allowing the user to research answers to their own questions;
the ability to post issues/questions/problems and allow a broad user base the chance to assist and respond;
the ability to include screen captures along with the textual description.
Users do not have to register to read the forums. But you do have to register in order to post or reply in the forums. This is a simple process that asks for a username/password and a valid e-Mail address. (Note: you will not be able to register without a valid e-Mail address. It keeps the spammers away!)
We personally take ownership of all issues with Birder's Diary and in most cases you will get a response within an hour of your post.
Please be sure to include screenshots of your problem or error message whenever possible. This greatly helps in improving the ability to solve the problem quickly. There is a Free Screen Capture Tool located below.
In addition, if the need arises, we can gain access to your desktop to help with problems via a Desktop Sharing tool located on this page. All you have to do is to run it from your system. But only use this if we have previously agreed to such a session. We have to be present at the computer and know who the request is coming from to accept it.
