Desktop Sharing by Appointment

Please setup an appointment for a Desktop Sharing Session first with Support via email at  support@BirdersDiary.com.

Since v6.3.27 – 2-May-2026 Birder’s Diary support uses Microsoft Quick Assist for desktop sharing.

If you have Birder’s Diary v6.3 Build 27 (or later) installed and working on your computer, then you can start Desktop Sharing via:

  1. Run Birder’s Diary
  2. Click on Help | Internet: Invite Support onto your System
  3. Follow the instructions.

Else,

  1. Click the Windows Start button.
  2. Type ‘Quick Assist’, if installed, run it.
  3. If not installed, you will have the option to install it from the Microsoft App Store. After install, run it.
  4. Support will give you a 6 character code to enter. Enter that and click Submit.
  5. Respond to a new window asking for understanding and click the Allow button.

Microsoft Remote Assistance Tool

As an alternate method if Quick Assist service is currently unavailable (rarely), do this:

Please follow these steps to create a Windows Remote Assistance invitation:

  1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard.
  2. Type msra and press Enter.
  3. Click Invite someone you trust to help you.
  4. Click Save this invitation as a file.
  5. Save the invitation file somewhere easy to find, such as your Desktop.
  6. Windows will display a password. Please keep that window open.
  7. Send an eMail to Support@BirdersDiary.com and attach the invitation file. Include the password in the email.

Once I receive the invitation file and password, I can attempt to connect to your computer.
