I recently updated to BD 6.0. My desktop icon is white. This happened previously and Jeff corrected it.
Hi Mike,
Never seen this anywhere but your computer.
The fix is easy.
- Right-click on your White desktop icon and choose Properties
- On the Shortcut Tab, click the Change Icon... button
- Click the Browse button on this window
- Browse to C:\Birder's Diary\ and choose the BDV60-icon-64.ico file.
- Click OK twice to close the previous 2 windows.
You should be good to go now.
Let me know.
Hi Mike,
I think this is at the root of your icon issue to begin with.
This error...
indicates a problem with your drive naming and or directory structure on your system drive.
Just to be sure, did you click on the Browse button and select the file from the File Explore window that pops up?
For example, after I click on Change Icon I get the following window and it has %SystemDrive% in the file specification. See here...
But, once I click on the Browse button on this window, and select "BDV60-icon-64.ico" from the File Explorer window that pops up, this field now correctly shows C:\ instead of %SystemDrive%.
Did you use the Browse button? What does your window show after choosing the ico file in the File Explorer window? It should have changed to C:\.
If not, try manually typing in the ico file path: "C:\Birder's Diary\BDV60-icon-64.ico" and see if that doesn't do the job.
Let me know please. If this doesn't work, I can jump onto your computer and fix this in half the time it took me to write this. LOL. So, just let me know how you make out with this.
Still did not work even with changing to C:\Birder's Diary\BDV60-icon-64.ico
Hi Mike. That is strange. I don't remember what I did exactly last time, but let's setup a time for me to get onto your computer and get this working. It shouldn't take a couple minutes.
Please send me email to support@birdersdiary.com and we can schedule a time.
