BD V6.0 build34 Clements Cornell 2023. Cannot add Spanish Sparrow or any sparrow or collared dove or flycatcher via common name or species name.
Sightings Entry/ Name/ Dropdown list does not scroll upwards enough. Birds exist on published pdf of Cornells 2023 list.
Attempted to add to Malta and realised, it is worldwide. Sparrows do not exist. 😋
Hi Noelma,
Thanks for posting. I assume you mean Clements/Cornell 2022, as the 2023 is not out yet.
My guess is that you are specifying a Location Filter that is limiting the number of species that can be entered.
Assuming you are using Keyboard Entry. Double-check your location filter setting.
If not that, then check your selected taxonomic lists.
If you are still having trouble, can you please include a screenshot of your Sightings Entry Setup window in your reply.
Let me know please.
Hi Noelma,
No, I cannot see it. If you can't see it, then I cannot either.
When replying in this editor, you have two options:
- Paste in an image using Ctrl+V while there is an image/pic in your windows copy buffer; or
- use the Attach file option at the bottom of this editor.
Or you can just describe to me all of your settings, but pictures are usually a better option.
Let me know.
Hi Noelma,
Thanks for the screenshot. But I needed the screenshot of the Setup window that I showed as an example in my post.
It sounds as if your Clements 2022 may not have imported correctly.
If you open the Taxonomy Viewer (F8) and load Clements 2022, what do the numbers at the bottom right of this window say?
If your numbers are not close to the ones I am showing above (mine are different because I have added SPUHs, etc.), then your Clements did not import correctly.
Remove Clements from your database using the same window by clicking the button that says "Delete" with Clements selected.
Now, download again, exit and restart BD and auto-import the taxonomy again. That will clear up any problems.
Let me know.
Husband does the input and reconciliations. He will do this tomorrow.
Will update you on progress when he has finished.
Hi Jeff, No reconciliation was possible as I had deleted the previous (pre-2022) Cornell database (as you advised me sometime back) and the incompletely imported 2022 version.
Just reporting for fun: Husband imported 70 days worth of Western Australian birds with no hiccup. When the Maltese (European) was attempted, found that Italian sparrow anomaly.
Hopefully everything has settled down now. Cheers again.

Hi Noelma,
We probably had a misunderstanding on this one.
But in either case, you can correct. Take a look at Features | Sightings | Orphaned Sightings.
Run that with the default settings; just click the Search button when the window comes up without changing any settings. This will tell you if you have any orphaned sightings that you need to edit and reassign to Clements 2022 things.
Let me know if I can assist further with anything. Take care.
