Hi

I am trying to change a subspecies in the Thing editor and cannot get it to work. I am trying to change Pacific Kingfisher from Todiramphus tuta to Todiramphus sacer. This will not work because every time I try to enter sacer it defaults and autofills to sacerdotum whatever that is. Am I missing something here?

I hope this is clear.

Many thanks

Hi Chaz,

Ummm. What version of Birder's Diary? The Thing Editor hasn't been around since about v4.0 or so; so I am guessing about that. It is much better in v5.2.

Anyway, what you are getting is the SmartSearch autofill feature. You want to disable that by pressing Ctrl+DownArrow while in the species text field. Now it will accept whatever you type.

Let us know please,

Jeff

Ok Charles. I see your next post and that you are at v5.2 and that window is still called Thing Editor. So all good, and yes, the answer is Ctrl+DownArrow while in that field.
