Hi Tim,
Thanks for the screenshots. The 2nd error msg is simply a result of the first. The first is the real problem.
This means your DB is corrupt or unstable.
Hopefully you have backups. In either case, since later versions of v5.3.x I have started performing DB copies during upgrades.
Exit BD if running.
Open Windows File Explorer ... WinKey+E.
Make sure you have File Extensions turned on. You will find this in a different place in every single version of Windows. (Thanks Microsoft) Here shows Win11.
You will find these database copies in C:\Birder's Diary\data\
"database.mdb" is the file that BD Desktop opens on startup.
First, rename database.mdb to database_corrupt.mdb. Keep it around just in case.
Now, select the latest copy by clicking on it. Ctrl+C to Copy to clipboard followed by Ctrl+V to Paste a copy into the same directory.
Rename the new file to "database.mdb".
Start BD. Does it work or produce the same error?
If an error, then get rid of this Copy (delete the new database.mdb), and repeat with the next version.
If you have backups, do the same thing in order from latest to oldest.
If you want, I can jump onto your computer and do this for you. Just let me know.
Thanks for the update Tim.
Although all that corruption is concerning. Make sure you do backups after any updates in BD just to be safe.
