I downloaded an eBird checklist. Import said there was a track file and I could import it if I manually made a trip. How can I make the trip first? I go out and make a trip. Then I discovered it did not import the sightings anyway. So I try to import again. And I get an error saying File locked. Please close the file and click OK. But I cannot click OK. I can't click on anything. I just get an error ding. All I can do is terminate the program with task manager. I do that. Come back in. And I get the same error. But then I see I have the file open in Excel! Ah ha.
I close it. Import again. But this time, it did not say I had a track file. So, I had no use for the trip I had already created. And I wonder how it would make the link with the trip anyway. Does BD import track files from eBird somehow? I didn't know that was a part of the eBird download, and I really don't think it is.
If I have Import from BD Mobile checked, and I try to import an eBird file, I get Default Files Missing. I did not see that message in the incident in question. And that message happened after the import I think. Also the Import dialog remembers what you did the last time, so I am pretty sure it was set to Import eBird.
I guess this is just one of those things. I probably did something wrong.
But it is true, it will eventually get to the Track Not Imported message.
