[Solved] eBird upload problems

Dear Jeff:

For the second time in the last few months I have been uploading data to eBird and have encountered multi-day delays while the files have been imported but are not processed by eBird.  I am not fresh on the details of the prior time, but after some days the files eventually were processed.

This time I have uploaded historical data originally from AviSys, now in BD, from 5.2.31 (20100217 SSC) and now 5.2.36 (20100403a SSC), and recent data entered originally in BD 5.2.31 and exported from 5.2.36 (20201203 Douglas), all three of which are attached.

eBird seems to be functioning normally based on my sweetie's ability to upload normally to be eBird from the eBird app.

Not a crisis and perhaps all at the eBird end in some way, but now that this has happened twice, it does seem to be an issue.  If you are able to pinpoint something, it would be appreciated.

thanks,

Richard

Hi Rich,

Thanks for posting.

Once BD creates the file to be imported into eBird, BD is out of the loop.

If the eBird site is taking a along time to import the file, that is all eBird.

They may well assign different priorities to eBird App uploads and file upload/imports; and most likely different code paths.

I have seen this happen in the past, and it tends to go away after a while. You might report this to eBird and see what they say. Let us know if you do hear back.

Jeff

Hi Jeff:

Cornell is claiming internal server issues caused the problems, not how BD prepares the csv files.  Thanks for responding,

Richard
