I just updated to Version 34. The sightings search results now shows 314 sightings for, I think, the entire United States. Prior to the update it would show just Michigan which is what I wanted to see.  Has something changed on the setup of this screen?

Hi Tim,

You should have gotten a New Feature popup that explained this change. The Yellow tooltip window below.

Now you can specify State, County or Hotspot in the eBird Location dropdown that replaced the previous 2 dropdowns.

Just specify Michigan (or whatever you want) now and it will remember it.

Let me know if I can assist further.

@jeff Thanks, that gave me the results I was looking for. Now if there was a way you could force me to read the New Features it would be great. Thanks again.

LOL Tim! That's why these forums exist and I am here to help.

New release changes and enhancements are also documented here on this site.

Take care.

I found in version 6 build 34 that the Country List is limited to 45 rows..ending in Chile.

I downloaded build 35 and the same scenario occurs

20230429 095404

the 'Locations' database has not been modified.

There are many countries after Chile.

bd countries

Kindly advise when time permits.  Thanks.

Hi Jim,

You should have 253 in the list if you have typed nothing into the Country dropdown and only activated the dropdown.

If you still show only 45 rows, then manually refresh that list please.

  1. View | Options from the main menu
  2. Special Tab
  3. Click the Update eBird Data button. This can take from 10 to 30 minutes.

  4. Then try the dropdown again please.

NOTE: This is eBird's list of countries, it does not necessarily match your BD Location hierarchy or list.

Let us know please.

Another thought Jim. It is possible that the background worker process is still updating your eBird Location list and that is why you only show 45. If you close that window (eBird Search) and reopen it and try again, do you get more countries? If so, then no need to execute the Update eBird Data function, as it is currently being updated. fyi

Let us know.

What was the solution Jim? Did you have to manually refresh the eBird data via the Options dialog, or did the background process eventually get it updated?

Since this is a new feature, I am still working out the kinks and need to know what you did.

Thanks.

HI Jeff,

solution was #1 - manually update ebird data from options.

only issue now is software sees the database as locked.

i tried ending the software...restarting the windows pc, and even power off the pc...but the below message continues when I try to run the backup.

bd error
