Hi Al,
I am unclear on exactly where/when you get this message. On startup, on exit, etc?
If this occurs during program startup and before you interact with it, click Ok, close the program and send me the C:\Birder's Diary\BD5323.log file.
If after startup completes and you interact with BD, what is the last thing you do before this error occurs?
Thanks.
Jeff,
It happens on exit. I click on "X" (Close Program) in the Tool Bar. The backup window pops up. I click either "Yes" or "No" and the error message pops up. I click "OK" in the error message box and the program closes
Al
Well - that's no good. Thanks for the info. I have the code open now, let me have a look. Will update shortly.
Hmmm. Unable to reproduce this on my computers Al.
Please post a pic of the window asking "would you like to backup...". Also, if you press either yes or no, you get the error - immediately? What about Cancel?
Thanks
Thanks Al. Just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same Backup window.
As a test, I will tell you how to reset that afterwards, start BD, click the "X" in the toolbar, get the "Would you like to backup..." message, and check the "Do not ask..." checkbox and click Cancel.
Now click the "X" again to close BD. You should not get the backup message. But do you still get the error?
Thanks.
Jeff,
Followed your instructions.
I clicked the "Do not ask..." box and clicked Cancel.
Clicked on "X" again and BD closed without the backup message nor the error message.
Al
Thanks Al. I am looking at the code and can't see anyway that this makes sense.
Is it possible for you to reboot your computer and try this again?
You will need to turn back on the "Would you like to backup..." message.
- WinKey+R to get the Windows Run dialog
- Type "regedit" and click OK
- When the registry editor comes up, navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Birders Diary\Settings"
- On the right side, locate "IGNORE-BACKUP-ON-EXIT"
- Right-click and choose Modify from the popup menu
- Set the value to "False" and click Ok.
- Exit Registry Editor
You can do this before or after your reboot. It will simply turn back on the message which appears to be causing this error.
If this error still occurs, we will need to make a time for me to get onto your computer to have a look.
Let us know.
Jeff,
Followed the instructions. I made the registry changes first. Then rebooted the computer.
Started BD. On closing BD, the backup window pops up, Clicking Yes or No the error message still occurs.
I agree we will have to set up a time but it will have to be tomorrow.
Al
Ok Al. Thanks for taking the time.
Please shoot me an email sometime with when you will be available tomorrow.

Thanks.
I am receiving the same error, under the same conditions. I will follow this thread for a resolution.
