Jeff,

I tried backing up again 3 hours later and I got no error message this time. Back up was successful.

Hi Al,

New feature!?!? Did not count on this one issue.

Starting in Build 33 and later, I moved the long-running tasks (DB updates, etc) to a worker process, that runs in the background and allows you to use BD quicker after an upgrade. The one thing you cannot do until the background process finishes is a Backup. Because that requires exclusive access to the database.

This particular upgrade requires 10-20 minutes to do some of the upgrade work to the database. This is why you encountered the error, and then did not get it again when you tried the backup later. I will work on a more pleasant message if you attempt to do a backup while this background process is running.

Thanks for reporting, and thanks for the screenshot!

Update: In Build 35, I have updated the message you will receive under this very rare circumstance. It will ask you to wait 25 minutes to try the backup again due to the database upgrade in progress after a product update.

fyi and sorry for the confusion this must have caused.

Build 35 is now available. It alerts you to the worker process and asks you to try again later. If you keep BD open and running, you will be alerted as soon as the worker process finishes so that you can proceed with your backup (or taxonomic list installation).
