[Solved] Google Earth feature needs lat/long
As has been said, the new Google Earth feature needs latitude/longitude to work. The 5.2 features list says "BD Mobile for Android gives you this! Auto-imported into your BD Desktop program."
And yet I don't have that for sightings that are already imported with the app. So, the feature does not work for existing sightings. Does this start with sightings imported AFTER 5.2 is installed? I do not see lat and long listed as UDF's in 5.2 UDF definition screen. I might expect to see that.
You have to add the Latitude and Longitude UDF fields (Type: Text). When present, importing from BDMobile will auto-populate those fields.
This is documented here in the user guide.
This has been the case since the Mobile App was first offered. And has worked since v5.1. Actually all imports (whether from BDMobile or any other source) checks every field in the CSV file to see if it matches a UDF name. If so, then that data is populated. This has been around since v4.0.
Let me know if this is still unclear.
OK. I need to read! Perhaps others missed it too. I brief comment in the features about this would be helpful.
Sorry David. Believe me I know. So much to read and know.
This link to the documentation, I provided above, has been in EVERY newsletter I have sent out when the Mobile App was the topic.
But no worries. It is simply impossible to catch everything. So, I and others are here to help each other get the most out of everything that BD Desktop and BD Mobile have to offer.
Keep the queries and ideas coming. Because I know that lots of user read these forums and learn from the posts.
