I just updated from Clements 2019 to 2021, all went well. I realized that I'd never removed any of my old taxonomic lists so I attempted to do so, starting with 2017. But I get the following message (no matter which list I attempt to delete--I went tried to delete 2015 as well): "Please select one older taxonomic list to delete first."
2015 is the oldest one I have!
Anyway, is it really necessary to delete them? The window says it can improve performance but is there any other reason to delete them...or any reason to keep them?
Hi Janet,
I am so glad you provided the screenshot, as I couldn't figure out why you would get that message. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Some of these list widgets can seem non-intuitive. But this functions just like the taxonomy list in View Sightings Setup. You have to click on the checkbox on the left side of each row to actually select it.
It is not required to delete older & unused taxonomic lists, but it does improve performance and many ways: e.g. Name Search rebuilds, Ambiguous name selections, etc.
I can't think of a downside.
Let me know if I can assist further.
DUH 🙄 🙂
