Just started receiving run-time error '214747848 (80010102)': Method '~' of object '~' failed after backup runs (and clicking on "Done" while exiting BD. It may have started after a recent OS update (Windows 10). This doesn't happen when I exit BD without backing up.

Hi Keelin,

Thanks for posting.

What version of BD are you running please? Including the Build number.

Can you reproduce this problem with a backup initiated from the File | Backup menu?

A screen shot of your Backup window and of the error would be great if you know how to capture one and paste it into your reply.

Are you sure that your Backup File destination exists (drive and directories)?

What's the last message in red on the backup window that you see before the error message? See example below pointed to by red arrows.

Let's start here please.

@jeff

Running v5.2, build 50

The backup runs to completion, showing the red "Done" message. All other functions work correctly. Running backup from the file menu produces another error - that BD must be restarted (however, the backup runs to completion normally), then the runtime error occurs as well.

Error after running backup on exit
Error running backup from menu
Backup completes normally

Hi Keelin,

Thanks much for the details. This is puzzling.

That's not an error. Just a message. You don't get that on normal exit because BD is exiting anyway.

But, when running manually, you get the error after clicking the Close button - correct?

Can I get onto our computer some time today or in the coming days to have a look at this? Please send email to Jeff@BirdersDiary.com to schedule this.

Thanks,

So, after having tried closing BD (including a couple of reboots) at least a dozen times, the runtime error is simply gone - both methods!

A puzzle indeed - since the error was there just a few hours ago this morning.

Let's close it for now, and I'll repost if it comes back - thanks for the quick responses!
