[Solved] Tropical Gnatcatcher Missing

Jeff:

The Clements 2021 update appears to eliminate Tropical Gnatcatcher as a species. My understanding is that White-browed Gnatcatcher was split from this, but that the Tropical Gnatcatcher still exists as a species. Ebird seems to confirm this understanding. TIA.

Hi,

What makes you say this?

It was indeed split to Tropical and White-browed Gnatcatchers.

You must go through the Reconcile process, Step #5 in the Auto-Import procedure, to reassign sightings from Tropical to either Tropical or Wite-browed.

Both Tropical and White-browed exist in Clements 2021.

Let me know.

I don't think I provided enough info above. Let me add some more.

Step #5 in the Auto-import process was the Reconcile process where you use the Reconcile Wizard to deal with splits and lumps.

If you missed that step, then you can start it by choosing Features | Advanced | Reconcile Sightings from the main menu in BD.

There is a Video Tutorial button on that window if you need a refresher on how to Reconcile. I recommend it. It can make the process more efficient for you.

Let me know if I can assist further,

I did run the reconciliation step and Tropical Gnatcatcher was not one of the available choices, only White-browed Gnatcatcher. To double-check, I looked for Tropical Gnatcatcher sightings in the View Sightings window, selected Clements 2021, and received the following error message (see attached screenshot).

gnatcatcher

I can, however, find the thing in the taxonomy viewer. I couldn't tell if it was associated with any specific locations. I hope that this helps.

I also tried looking up Tropical Gnatcatcher in Rosetta Stone and got the following results (see attached screenshot)

rosetta

As you can see, Clements 2021 does not appear. It doesn't appear when I search aliases either. let me know if you need anything else.

Hmmm. Something is amiss. Can I get onto your computer in a bit?

I am booked right now, but how about in 30 minutes.

Please shoot me an email to jeff@birdersdiary.com to get this scheduled.

Thanks,

UPDATE: Got onto Neill's computer and it appeared that the SmartSearch Name table had not been refreshed after the Clements 2021 import. Once we refreshed that, everything seemed to be working.

This is reset from View | Options on the main menu. The More Tab.
