[Solved] Unexpected Handled Error

I was trying to upload an eBird checklist. I selected the taxonomy, user, click "Import" and when I select the file I get the error - "Unexpected Handled Error, 94 - Invalid use of Null (BDV52), Contact Technical Support ...." I've tried different taxonomies and get the same result. I was able to upload from BD to eBird, but can't seem to do it the other way which would be more convenient because I keep my records in the field using eBird.

Import to BD from eBird

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the screenshot. Always helpful!

Please forward the input file that causes this problem to me at support@birdersdiary.com. I will have a look to see what is going on inside there. Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for sending your import file to me. I have received and tested on v5.2.52 as you have.

As you can see below, I have no problem importing this file.

The only difference that I can see is that you are specifying Wells Taxonomy and I am using Clements 2019. Q: Did you intend to specify Wells on the import?

Q: What happens if you specify ABA or Clements instead? (I see you have the Annual Everything License, so there is no reason to ever use Wells)

In the same directory where you have this import file, there should be a SightingsImport.log file with some details. Q: Can you forward that file to me via email again please?

Let's start here. We will get to the bottom of this.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Paul,

Found the problem! I was able to replicate the problem with a copy of Paul's database. The issue is no middle initial for your observer. Not sure why this hasn't tripped up on other observers with no middle initial. But when I added a middle initial for your observer, the problem went away.

This problem will be fixed in Build 53 of v5.2.

Please confirm that after you add a middle initial to your name, that all works. You can remove the middle initial once Build 53 is released.

Thanks and sorry for this problem.

@jeff That did it. I imported the original checklist and created a new one from today and both uploaded with no issue. Thanks for figuring that out!

Hi Paul,

I just uploaded Build 53. It fixes this problem. So if you want to go back to no Middle Initial after you upgrade to Build 53 (Help | Internet: Check for a program update), then you can.

fyi
