[Solved] update problem

I'm currently running Version 5.1.57 and am trying to update.

When I do so, I get the following message:

The file C:\Users\jpkor\Desktop\BirdersDiary\Backup\ https://www.Birders Diary.com/DiaryKits/51/BDV51-nwsetup.EXE could not be opened.

 

When I look for this file, it is not present.

How do I correct this?

Saw forum saying to download program again.  I did and tried to update -- still get the error message of file couldn't be opened.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for posting.

Due to our recent move of the web site to a new provider and technology, the Help | Internet: Check for a program update feature doesn't work for versions of BD v5.1.99 and lower. 

In this case, your case, you need to come here to the Downloads >> Birder's Diary Program page and download and run the installer. This will upgrade you to v5.1 Build 102.

It sounds as if, in your 2nd post above, that you may have tried this. But I can't be sure. For sure this works. So if you are doing this, please be specific about exactly what you are doing and what problems you encounter and where. Provide the full message text, etc.

This could be due to an Antivirus program, in which case, it is strongly advised to temporarily disable all antivirus programs and attempt the installation again. (Please see more info about antivirus programs at the bottom of the Downloads page.)
