Hi Susan,

Thanks for posting.

This means that you still have BD (v5.3) running in the background. Please close BD and restart the installation.

Let us know please.

And thanks for posting the complete details of the error message. It always helps make diagnosis much easier. 🙂

Update: created Build 2 just now that correctly checks for BD running in the background and asks you to close it if so. No need to upgrade to Build 2 if you are already at Build 1. The only change is to the installer program.

I can't download the 6.0 installer. (Windows 11 with Windows Defender). Instead of the BVxxx.exe file, I get "Unconfirmed 182739.crdownload". I told Microsoft I believed the file was safe, but it made no difference. Do I have to disable Windows Defender? If so, how?

Thanks.

Never mind. V6.0 now downloaded. Problem was not Windows Defender, but Microsoft's poor instructions.

Hi John,

Yep - they keep making it harder to download and use software; all in the name of trying to keep you safe. Glad you figured it out. You just have to keep poking and prodding and telling it to Run Anyway.
