I am importing a lot of lists from eBird these days.  BD pops up a very useful window when it finds a species in an eBird list that does not correspond to anything in the current taxonomic list, and then can remember what you say it is through that import session.  However, it does not retain that correspondence once you go away from the Import session.  The worst is telling BD that "Rock Pigeon (Feral Pigeon)" is actually "Rock Pigeon/Feral Pigeon" every time I want to import it.  Can BD be induced to remember these? The best would be if I never had to enter a correspondence twice, but even retaining it for an entire Birder's Diary session would be an improvement.  I often want to import one set of sightings, work on the resulting sightings, then later in the same session import more lists.

Thanks

Hi David,

Good question. Glad you asked. Easy answer.

Add an alias name for "Rock Pigeon" in BD. The alias should match whatever eBird is calling it.

Now, all imports from eBird of "Rock Pigeon/Feral Pigeon" will auto-match.

Thanks, this is good.

I found the window button labels confusing though.  The first box is labeled Name, which suggests Alias name to me.   A little more label text would help "Species to add Alias to"  of just "Species Name" would be clearer than "Name"

I have updated the tooltip text for that field in Build 28. Thanks.
