Sometimes I record an outing in BD Mobile in an area with poor or no internet access. I would like to be able to capture the completed outing .csv file as a file on my phone, where I can work with it immediately, without having to send it to myself by email. So what I want is a "Save to file" option on the Send eMail screen (after the Send and Close button). The current format of the .csv file is fine.
Hi Judy,
Thanks for posting here.
My question for you is how would you use such a local CSV file on your phone?
And, how would that differ from simply reviewing the Outing in the App itself? For example, on the home screen of the App, there is the Completed Outings button. From there you can view all of your past Outings (those that you have not removed manually) in checklist format with all the same options you have as when you are recording the Outing. For example, using the button in the lower left, you can view Only the checked rows (species seen).
It seems to me that this is the same functionality that you might be asking for and perhaps you were unaware that it existed.
Let me know please.
Jeff, thanks for responding. One of the things we do with BD Mobile is record the photographs we are able to get. Sometimes, in a mixed flock, the sightings come fast and furious, and being able to quickly record the bird's name after taking the picture is a big help. And sometimes we get multiple shots of the same bird at different times during the day. Then what we do in the evening is name the photos. What we want, then, is a list of the birds in chronological order (not alphabetical, not taxonomic), to correlate with the file creation times. We're not aware of a way to do that in BD Mobile, but with an app to read and sort the .csv file, it would be easy. Certainly if we're at a lodge with good internet access, we could send the file by email and open it on the laptop, but that's not an option everywhere.
Thanks for the info Judy.
So, if I added the functionality in BD Mobile for showing a list of all Clicks by Date/Time with Name and Lat/Lng, that would solve your issue without needing an export to CSV and opening the CSV. Is that correct?
24-Jan-2022 0901 Bald Eagle 20.1234, -105.1234 --------------------------------------- 24-Jan-2022 0922 Bald Eagle 20.1255, -105.1255 --------------------------------------- 24-Jan-2022 0901 Northern Harrier 20.1400, -105.1400
Something like that. This might be easier and more readily functional.
Anything else I might be missing?
That's close, Jeff. But your example implies that you would list all sightings of the first bird, time-stamped, followed by all sightings of the second, and so on. What we really want is a chronological list of sightings, like:
Bald Eagle 0901
Northern Harrier 0901
Bald Eagle 0922
It's a list of every individual bird seen/photographed, in time order, to match up with the time-stamped photos.
Judy
You are correct Judy. That is what I intended. Just a bad example on my part.
On the TODO list.
Sounds good, Jeff. Thanks.
That should meet our needs. Thanks very much, Jeff.
FYI - v1.41 was released a couple weeks ago; along with several new enhancements.
